How Quick Quack's Water Reclamation System Works

Here is something most people don’t think about when they pull into a car wash: where does all that water go?

Turns out, most of it never leaves. So how Quick Quack keep water in the system instead of sending it down the drain?

Washing at home uses more water than you think

A typical driveway wash uses around 100 gallons of water. All of it runs off your driveway, picks up soap, oil, and road grime along the way, and flows straight into storm drains and local waterways. No filter. No recovery. Just 100 gallons gone.

In a place where drought is a regular reality, that adds up fast.

So what does Quick Quack do differently?

Every Quick Quack wash is built with a reclamation trench right in the floor. Instead of letting water run offsite, the trench channels it into a reclamation tank. From there it moves through a filtration system that pulls out soaps, soils, and oils, and then it goes right back into the wash for the next car.

That cycle repeats with every single vehicle, at every single location.

The result: Quick Quack uses as little as 21 gallons per wash and recycles up to 99% of the water used in each wash cycle. Compare that to 100 gallons lost down the driveway and the difference is hard to ignore.

Our in-house engineering team is always working to make that system better, too. This is not a set-it-and-forget-it operation. Improving our reclamation and filtration technology is an ongoing priority.

What does that look like over time?

A garden hose running for 30 minutes uses over 150 gallons. Quick Quack uses a fraction of that and recycles most of what it does use.

Wash your car twice a month and switching to Quick Quack saves roughly 1,896 gallons of water per year, per vehicle. That is a real number with a real impact.

Washing responsibly in drought-affected communities

Quick Quack serves communities across the West and Gulf Coast where water conservation is not an abstract concept. In places like Utah and across the Southwest and South Texas, drought conditions are a real and recurring part of life, and the question of how to use water responsibly is one our customers think about.

That is exactly why our reclamation system matters beyond the numbers. When a Stage 3 drought is declared, most outdoor water use gets restricted. Quick Quack follows city guidelines that allow us to stay open during those restrictions, because using as little as 21 gallons per wash and recycling up to 99% of that water means we are not putting the same demand on local water supplies that a driveway wash does.

By the numbers

Fresh water per wash: As little as 21 gallons vs. ~100 gallons at home

Water recaptured: Up to 99% vs. 0% at home

Soap into storm drains: Never vs. unavoidable at home

Stage 3 drought operable: Yes vs. restricted at home
